Swim the width of the English Channel charity relay
CHANNEL SWIM - Tuesday 6th March 2012 - QUB PEC
Calling all swimmers!
Charity swim in the PEC pool on the 6th of March to raise money for an MRI scanner at Children’s Hospital on the RVH site. The aim is to swim the distance of the English Channel, 21 miles, ~1350 lengths. Fast lane is reserved for 12 hours to complete this challenge, which will be very tough. Looking for as many volunteers as possible to swim as part of this relay team. You should be able swim around about a mile (64 lengths) in 30 minutes. Call for volunteers for 30 minutes and 60 minutes slots and longer if you can manage it.
If you are interested, please drop an email with your name, your mobile number, how long you can swim for (30 or 60 minutes), and what times best suit you. We have the fast lane from 7:30am to 7:30pm. The email address is:

Hey,
I just wanted to check if the Aquathlon was open to anyone? I'm not a member of the PEC or the club any more but you're drawing me in with offer of post race beer and pizza.
Cheers

Naked Charity Calendar
QUB SU are arranging a naked charity calendar in support of PIPS, a suicide awareness/prevention charity. There will be separate male and female calendars. Is anyone up for this? (I'm game!) The SU need to know how many people would be willing to participate: please can you indicate below if you're willing to be involved!
Here's some more info:
Obviously we are aware that any potential participants may be hesitant in taking part but they should be assured the pictures will be taken in a very professional manner and the utmost care will be taken to make the participants feel as comfortable as possible. The participants should also be assured that although the calendar has been referred to as a ‘naked’ calendar the modesty of any of the participants will be carefully concealed using some well-placed props. Queens University has granted permission for the calendar to be made and for the photographs to be taken on campus.
We would ask that all committee members stress to the rest of their club/society the good they will be doing by taking part, making £10,000 for charity, as corny as it sounds, really can save lives. It would also be good for the club/society to be able to say that (with very little effort) they helped raised money for charity.
